Show Notes

Intermittent Fasting….you have probably heard about it. In fact, many people swear by it as being one of the most flexible and sustainable diet plans to follow. Having said that, we shouldn’t even call it a diet plan as it does not mention any specific foods you should or shouldn’t eat.

Really it is an eating pattern that has been popularised by many people such as Greg O’Gallagher, the man behind Kinobody. It allows people to eat what they want without limiting their food options, as they eat in a shortened window or time-frame.

There are a few different variations of IF that people tend to follow, such as the 5:2 diet or the 16:8 and the overriding reason as to why people follow these diets is to lose body fat.

After restraining from eating for a certain period of time, our bodies are depleted of energy sources that come from the foods we eat. We are in a fasted state and so the body starts to utilize our fat stores as the main source of energy.

Now this may sound great as IF also comes with a load of other benefits such as boosting levels of noradrenaline, a hormone that mobilizes fat. But are there any downsides to IF?
